01: aligula/katniss

lingering affection, you and i are being kept alive by it.

“Katniss, Katniss, look!”

Katniss looks up from her Pokédex in time to see Aligula beaming and holding a--

“It's a heart. With a face.”

Aligula pouts, while the heart thing lets out a huffy “Luv!”

“No, it's a Luvdisc! They're, like, the cutest thing ever,” Aligula corrects, and Katniss snorts. According to Aligula, every Pokémon she's caught is “the cutest thing ever.” This is no different. Aligula loves all of her Pokémon equally, though; Katniss doesn't doubt that each one is the cutest ever. That's just how Aligula is. “And its Pokédex entry is totally sad. Listen to this: 'If a Luvdisc is left on its own, it becomes despondent, leaving itself open to attack. That is when Pelipper snatch them up,'” Aligula reads from her Dex.

“Oh.” Katniss is sufficiently disturbed… which is happening a lot, ever since they got those dexes. She might not have a soft spot for a lot of the Pokémon they come across, but there's something seriously messed up about the Luvdisc's entry. “Maybe you should catch another one.”

Aligula gives her a very pointed stare, her cheeks puffing out in, admittedly, a cute way. “I don't have to catch one if my best girl friend, like, ever, decides to catch one so we can match.”

Katniss turns away to hide the blush that crawls into her cheeks. It's… it's kind of a nice idea, having a matching Pokémon with Aligula. She's definitely not the sappy kind of person, but when it comes to Aligula, she's got a major soft spot. The other girl wraps her arms around Katniss's middle, and Katniss finally looks down at her.

“Pleeeeeeease? Please, Katniss, please? You'll totally not regret it, I asked around and the people around say they're a really super great addition to your team! They're really fast, which fits you, like, perfectly! Besides, you need a water type, and they're all over the place in the sea!”

Katniss lets out a sigh, but she can't stop the smile that twitches across her lips. “Fine,” she says, while Aligula squeezes her tighter.

“You're the best, Katniss! Just watch, they're gonna fall in love and make super cute little Luvdisc babies!” Aligula exclaims, while Katniss hides her face in her hand.

Later, when she catches her own Luvdisc (a male, to match Aligula's female), Katniss decides that Aligula's bright smile is definitely the best thing ever.
